File Extension 09

The file extension .09 is from the Golden Orchard Apple II CD-Rom. DigiSoft Apple released this CD-Rom with more than 600 megabytes of Apple applications, fonts, games and utilities. This is a great product for those who are nostalgic about early Apple computers like the Apple II GS.
Originally, the DigiSoft Apple Golden Orchard Apple II CD-Rom version 2.0 was emulator-compliant and developed to run software favorites for customers who preferred the Apple II GS system. Developers needed to make sure that it could function on older Apple GS computers, newer Apple Macintosh OS computers and third-party Apple emulators.

I really do love FileCure because it's so easy to use - you don't have to be some kind of computer guru to get just what you need!

Plug and play? Not even close. I spent a lot of time trying to get my new, so-called 'plug and play' scanner to work. I was about ready to take it back. ParetoLogic FileCure got it working and saved me a needless trip (and gas!!) back to the store.

I have to admit I'm no computer geek. When something goes wrong, I usually have to call someone to fix it and it costs me a lot of money. When my printer wouldn't work, a friend of mine suggested I try ParetoLogic FileCure a try. I figured it was worth a shot because I was going to have to pay for a geek anyway. I was so happy when it worked... and worked properly!

I figured the graphics card my grandson gave me was broken when I couldn't get it work on my computer. It turns out that I just didn't have the right driver. ParetoLogic FileCure got it workin.

Hello FileCure folks:

I can't thank you enough for this great product. I just bought a new Vista machine and had been having all kinds of problems. First it was my screen and once I got that fixed it was the printer . Finally, my son suggested I try your product. It worked great and continues to keep my computer working. Thanks you.

Reggie E., N. Dakota

I hate paying a lot of money for anything. That's why I buy mostly used computer equipment. Last week I thought I got taken when I bought a scanner. It just would not work. ParetoLogic Driver Cure got it working. With the updates, it makes sure my stuff will keep working and that I don't have to pay more money.

I work at a school so my mom thinks I am some kind of computer whiz. I have wasted so much time trying to get her stuff to work. Our IT guy suggested I try ParetoLogic FileCure. It has been a godsend and has saved me a lot of wasted hours. My mom and I can't thank you enough.

Carol S., Saskatchewan

My wife bought me a new Vista system, and ever since I have had problems with some of my hardware. I saw FileCure, and decided to give it a shot. Ever since, the Vista and my hardware have been working great. Thanks!

Nick Shultz, Canberra, Australia

I upgraded my system to Vista, and my printer started to act funny. No error messages, but it just wasn't working quite right. I read that drivers could sometimes be the problem. I looked online and saw FileCure. After downloading FileCure, my printer works great. You guys rock!

This CD-Rom includes a Pro DOS bootable and multiple "HTTP File Server" (HFS) partitions. Two versions are available - one with 6 HFS partitions and another with one large partition. These divisions were 32 MB in size. The large divisions sizes and complicated HFS partition structure has made it difficult to use Golden Orchard on Apple Macintoshes and emulators. The Apple Macintosh supports only one HFS volume per CD-Rom, so it has problems with the Golden Orchard Apple II CD-Rom. It usually needs plug-ins to function properly. Third-party software, like the FWB CD-Rom toolkit helps these programs manage Golden Orchard.

More Info Regarding File Extension 09

In order to properly run the Golden Orchard CD-Rom on the Apple II GS, it is essential to have the proper Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) card. An Apple or RAMFast interface card should function well. This interface card will ensure that the CD-Rom communicates effectively with the computer, by providing standardized commands and controls.

The CV Technologies RAMFast interface card was developed especially for use with the Apple. This card supports up to 12 partitions, which can be mapped to Pro DOS 8 "virtual" slots.

The "termination voltage" setting might be an issue. Usually, it is set by the SCSI card. RAMFast does this, but other interface cards do not. Modification might be required in order to ensure that this important function is operating as it should.

Digisoft has created a Golden Grail CD for the Apple II GS and modern emulators which translates the Golden Orchard data into more convenient disk image formats. It reduces the 32 MB sections into smaller more manageable 2 MB sections.

The Apple II GS (Graphics Sound) was introduced in 1986. In order to use the "Apple" name, which was owned by the Beatles, the Apple computer company was originally restricted from venturing into music. The Apple II GS broke this boundary by including a top-notch sound card for more robust multimedia experiences.

Advanced color graphics included a 4,096 color palette. A mouse-controlled, graphical user interface (GUI) offered a better computing environment. The Apple II GS used more RAM, running 8-bit and 16-bit software.

The Apple II GS blended Apple II and Macintosh environments. It had an improved super high-resolution video mode of 640x200 pixels. The Apple II GS was very expandable and scalable, using SCSI host adaptors and expansion cards to increase options.

New Apple II GS features which would become standard Apple fare included the Finder application and Apple Desktop Bus used for input peripherals.

The exterior design model color of gray, which Apple called "platinum", was initiated with the Apple II GS. It was called the Snow White or Frog design - using horizontal and vertical decoration stripes, minimal surface texturing, light white or gray and unadorned access ports.

The Apple II GS opens and runs the file extension .09.

Freeware Sweet 16 Apple II GS emulator runs the Golden Orchard CD-Rom, supporting sound, music and games for the vintage console. It enables user to continue to run nostalgic software. It has a "pause" feature and variable settings controlling emulator speeds. The Sweet 16 Apple II GS emulator is still in the development and beta-testing phases; its bugs are being worked out.

Kent's Emulated GS (KEGS) emulator for Apple Macintosh OS, Linux/Unix and Microsoft Windows also runs the Golden Orchard CD-Rom. It is mostly used for applications and games. It is also in the development phase.

Problems might result with improper hardware running the Golden Orchard CD-Rom. Also, check to make sure that the file extension is listed correctly. Data corruption could result from using software still being developed.
